Title: Celestial Heart
Artist: John B. Giuliani
Sponsor: Skoler, Abbot and Presser P.C.

John B. Giuliani was born in Greenwich, CT, the son of Italian immigrants. He studied art at the Pratt Institute in New York City and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1960.

Over the next fifteen years, he taught Latin, Humanities and American Film at the Diocesan Seminary, at Fairfield University, and at Sacred Heart University. He also earned Master of Arts degrees in Classical Studies, Theology and American Studies. In 1977, he founded the Benedictine Grange, a small monastic community in Redding, where he nurtures a variety of ministries that flow from the contemplative life.

Since 1989, Giuliani's painting has emphasized an iconic depiction of Native American people. His work is in churches throughout the United States, and in several dozen private collections. It has been exhibited in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City; the New Britain Museum of American Art; the Marian Institute in Dayton, OH; the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and in several university galleries. In 2001, he was selected to paint the official banner for the famous Palio (horse race) in Siena, Italy.

Recently, he was invited to paint two portraits for the "Faces of the Fallen", of soldiers who served in Iraq, to be exhibited at Arlington National Cemetery. Giuliani's Americ-Heart combines the joy of heart-felt patriotism with an artistic love for the bold and colorful symbolism of the Stars and Stripes.
