Downland Villages Invaded by Lifesize Model Cows – from Moscow, Paris, Prague and Barcelona to Hurstpierpoint
A brightly-painted herd of full-size model cows will invade the Sussex Downland villages of Hurstpierpoint and Sayers Common in September as part of the area’s arts festival.
The cows have been illustrated, many by local artists and three by local schools.
After the event a number of cows will be auctioned off for charity at a special event at Hurstpierpoint College on October 15th.
“CowParade” is an international event usually associated with cities such as Moscow, Paris, Barcelona and New York, Hurstpierpoint and Sayers Common are the first villages to feature this “the largest open-air art event in the world”.
The cows will form a trail around the villages for art enthusiasts and intrigued members of the public to follow and the trail will be a spectacular addition to this, the villages’ first arts festival.
Among other happenings during the event, which runs from September 16th to October 2nd, will be art, photography, music, theatre, films, poetry and dance.
There will also be a visit by a large contingent from the village’s French twin of St Martin de Boscherville.
The festival has the financial backing of the Parish Council, the Hurstpierpoint Charity and West Sussex County Council.
A festival brochure is available locally from shops in the village and there is a web-site at:
